Scheller Teacher Ed Program
Research Scientist
Ling enjoys tinkering and playing with research design, methods, and data that highlights how students and their teachers learn when they use technology-enhanced tools in the classroom. Prior to MIT, she was a graduate researcher in the Strategic Education Research Partnership (SERP) and studied the development of teacher expertise in academic discussions that promoted deeper student understanding of science and history. She also assessed medical simulation programs at Boston Children’s Hospital that aimed to develop surgical teams’ ‘soft skills’ to prevent medical errors. But for many years, Ling was a Boston Public Schools classroom teacher – at her core, she identifies herself as an educator. She holds a doctorate in Human Development and Education and a masters in Technology, Innovation, and Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education.
